• What IS Fibromyalgia?
The term Fibromyalgia or FM is a term that doctors coined to describe a chronic syndrome characterized by specific chronic pain, stiffness, or excessive tenderness that seems to emanate from the fibrous connective tissues of the muscles, ligaments, bones, joints, and tendons. It is most commonly felt as unrelenting pain in the muscles of the neck, shoulders, upper back, or between the shoulder blades. It is referred to as a syndrome because it is a set of signs and symptoms that occur together. TOP
• What are the symptoms?
Fibromyalgia is often referred as the 'invisible' disability due to the fact there are generally no outward indications of the illness. Many sufferers often face disbelief from those unfamiliar with the syndrome. Most people complain they ache all over and their muscles feel like they have been pulled or overworked. But all people are different so no two people experience the same symptoms the same way. However, they all seem to experience sets of similar symptoms. The pain of Fibromyalgia seems to have no boundaries and is reportedly the most prominent of all symptoms. Occuring most often in the muscles and ligaments, it is also commonly located in the head, neck, chest, shoulders, upper and lower back, hips, arms, elbows, legs, knees and feet. Sufferers describe this pain in many ways including deep seated, aching, tenderness, burning, throbbing, shooting, aching, stabbing, and extreme soreness. The pain has been known to lasts for months at a time and is often accompanied the feelings of tight knots and twitching in the muscles or excessive stiffness.
Fatigue and sleep disturbances occur in about 90% of sufferers, as well. Fatigue occurs so commonly that some doctors believe Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are the same disease. The severity of fatigue can range from mild to overwhelming and incapacitating and does not respond well to rest. Those suffering these symptoms often awaken tired and unrefreshed even though they had adequate sleep. Described as brain fatigue, some studies have shown that Fibromyalgia disrupts the alpha waves of sleep patterns causing the deep restorative stage of sleep to be missed. This would then explain why fatigue is experienced throughout the day with the person feeling completely drained of energy.
If you have widespread musculoskeletal pain in your muscles, ligaments, and tendons as well as fatigue, but your doctor in unable to diagnose you with a known malady, you might be suffering from Fibromyalgia. TOP
• Who is afflicted?
Fibromyalgia is significantly more common in women than men and afflicts people of all ages. It is an often misunderstood condition because symptoms are so common that sufferers are regularly misdiagnosed and tests often come back normal. It is currently estimated to affect over 4 million people with as many as 10 to 25 million Americans suffering from varying degrees of this dibilitating syndrome. TOP
• Is it progressive? Curable?
Once inflicted, the intensity of FM symptoms may vary, but probably never totally disappear completely. However, fibromyalgia is not life threating nor progressively degenerative. With treatment and self-care fibromyalgia symptoms and general over-all health can improve. TOP
• How else does FM manifest itself?
Other common symptoms of Fibromyalgia even more problematic sleeping disorders than alpha-EEG disruption. They include being unable to fall asleep or stay asleep, along with issues such as Sleep Apnea, Bruxism (teeth grinding), periodic limb movement during sleep (jerking of arms and legs), and Restless Legs Syndrome (difficulty sitting still in the evenings). Another common symptom seems to be the inability to mentally focus or concentrate accompanied by memory loss and often depression. Many experts suspect that fibro-fog is directly related to and a result of the commonly experienced sleep disturbances previously mentioned.
Migraine or tension headaches, sore jaw joints and surrounding muscles, and chronic headaches and facial pain are also common in many patients. Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Syndrome causes tremendous jaw-related facial pain, and is related to the muscles and ligaments surrounding the jaw joint.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), constipation, diarrhea, frequent abdominal pain, abdominal gas, nausea, and bloating associated with IBS are frequently found in rougly 40% to 70% of patients who suffer from Fibromyalgia. This can also include Acid Reflux or Gastroesophogeal Reflux Disease (GRED).
Other common symptoms include painful menstrual periods, impaired coordination, dizziness, dry eyes and mouth, skin sensitivities, swollen extremities, irritable bladder, numbness and tingling sensations, mood changes, anxiety chest pain, and heightened sensitivity to external stimuli. Many Fibromyalgia sufferers report being sensitive to odors, noises, touch, and bright lights, as well. TOP
• What is the cause?
There are many studies as to why people suffer from fibromyalgia, but no one yet knows for certain. Researchers speculate some causes to include abnormal levels of different chemicals that thransmit pain to the brain, an infectious illness, emotional and physical trauma, hormonal changes, muscle abnormalities, infection, lupus, hypothyroidism, and aging, just to name a few. It is known that as you age your bones, joints, and muscle metabolism slows naturally which may lead to further symptoms associated with this syndrome. Most of these bone, joint, and muscle problems are accompanied by pain, which many sufferers try to ignore. As the pain grows out of control without treatment, those in this situation can experience some level of stress and/or depression which tends to further elevate the symptoms of pain throughout the body. Sleep then becomes problematic because sufferers find it increasingly difficult while in such pain. As a result of inadequate sleep, their metabolism continues to decline which results in even more depression, stress, and pain and the cycle repeats itself over and over again. This is just one of the many theories as to how and why this syndrome's problematic symptoms become so widespread and systemic. TOP
• Do any factors worsen symptoms?
Several factors are said to temporarily increase the suffering of Fibromyalgia patients. An increase in stress, physical activity, atmospheric pressure, lack of deep sleep, hunger, starvation, malnutrition, cold weather, infections, allergies, hormonal fluctuations, and over exertion have all been linked to an increase in the severity and duration of many Fibromyalgia symptoms. The pain of FM is reportedly most often worse in the mornings. TOP
• How is it traditionally treated?
Since the exact cause and mechanism of Fibromyalgia has not been conclusively identified, the traditional medical community has primarily focused on addressing the specific overt symptoms of the syndrome. Therefore, your medical provider may recommend pain killers, muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory medication, anti-depression drugs, or sleeping medication to attempt to alleviate your symptoms, but are generally unable to offer any solution for treatment or cure of the underlying causes. TOP
• What are the alternative treatments?
Other healthcare providers such as Chiropractors and Naturapaths tend to view Fibromyalgia as a dysfunction in the body's hormonal, metabolic, and energy production systems and therefore focus their treatment and protocols from a completely different perspective than that of the traditional medical community. They may utilize manipulation, physiotherapy, massage, exercise, detoxification procedures, nutrition, herbs and other alternative methods to help re-balance these systems to address the cause and reduce symptoms. • What is the history of Doctor's Fibromyalgia Cream?
Known as transdermal homeopathics, our unique cream was perfected and tested for over 2 years prior to public release. Truly an innovation in modern science and technology, Dr. Charles Mesko invented and perfected a new delivery system (world-wide patents pending) where by FDA regulated homeopathic remedies and supporting botanicals are loaded into billions of microscopic liposome carriers and rapidly transported into the deep layers of the targeted tissues. TOP
• How does Doctor's Fibromyalgia Cream help those suffering from FM?
Specifically developed to help your doctor address many of the central issues that are thought to be responsible for the development of your pain, Doctor's Fibromyalgia Cream features billions of time released microscopic hollow spheres called nano-liposomes that contain very potent homeopathics and rare supporting botanicals. When applied topically to the sensitive and painful areas, the liposomes effectively transport and release these powerful ingredients directly into the deep layers of affected tissues. Additionally, these powerful ingredients are then time-released into the system over the course of about 8 hours. This new line of transdermal products are not mere counter-irritants that simply get hot or cold; temporarily distracting the patient's sensation of pain. Although very common, these type of products never really address the central issues that are typically at the heart of Fibromyalgia or chronic pain. For example, Doctor’s Fibromyalgia Cream not only significantly reduces the symptom of pain, but can actually help to modulate numerous underlying hormonal dysfunctions often seen in this condition, down-regulate chronic inflammation, and promote the clearing of the chronic inflammatory tissue metabolites that often accumulate in the soft tissues of Fibromyalgia sufferers!
